By Mai Al Abria — MUSCAT: Dec 18: Sohar University celebrated the graduation of its 15th batch on Thursday. The ceremony was presided over by Darwish bin Ismaeel al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs. It was attended by Chairman of the Board of Governors (Chancellor), Chairman of the Board of Directors, and members of both boards, besides guests and officials. The ceremony, held in front of the LRC Building, saw 1,298 graduates from various disciplines. They included graduates with Masters degree (80), bachelor degree (425), Advanced Diploma and Diploma (619) and Education Diploma (174).
The event began with the singing of the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. It was followed by a speech from Prof Barry Winn in which he congratulated the graduates and their parents and advised the graduates to “get ready for the next stage”. A speech was delivered by graduates, expressing happiness and gratitude to the university and all those who had helped them achieve academic success. Certificates were handed to all the graduates.
