MUSCAT: The statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the production of refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate increased by 20.5 per cent at the end of January 2017 compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2016. The statistics showed that the products included the regular gasoline 90 and the premium gasoline 95 registered an increase by 10.4 per cent. The report also showed that the refineries increased regular gasoline 91 production to 59 per cent to reach 62,200 barrels at the end of January 2017 with a 111-per cent increase.
The refineries also increased premium gasoline 95 production to 4 per cent to reach 1 million and 52,600 barrels, however, its sales declined to 17 per cent to reach 1 million and 38,900 barrels.
The production of gas oil (diesel) increased by 19 per cent to reach till last January 1 million and 93,100 barrels, but its sales declined by 10 per cent to reach 1 million and 32,000 barrels.
The jet fuel production increased by 9 per cent to reach 474,000 barrels with an increase as well in sales by 10 per cent to reach 403, 000 barrels, but its exports declined by 62 per cent to reach 64,000 barrels.
The Sultanate production of the liquefied petroleum gas till last January reached 35,900 barrels with a 130-per cent increase with an increase in the sales as well by 9 per cent to reach
20,400 barrels, as well as its exports increased to 354 per cent to reach 16,800 barrels.
Gasoline production increased by 29 per cent to reach 22,000 metric tonnes. Its exports also increased by 108 per cent to reach 2,500 metric tonnes. Paraxylene production increased by 11 per cent to stand at 6,100 metric tonnes. The export of Paraxylene also registered an increase by 70 per cent to reach 90,000 metric tonnes. Polypropylene production reached 20,000 metric tonnes, remaining at the same production levels compared to January 2016, but its exports increased by 400 per cent to reach 15,000 metric tonnes. — ONA
