BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Sultanate represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture is currently participating in the Brunei Dar es Salaam Book Fair to introduce the Omani book, highlight the intellectual, literary and historical aspect of the Sultanate, enhance exchanges in the fields of copyright and publication, introduce the Omani authors and publishing houses and link them with their counterparts in Brunei Darussalam. Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in Brunei Darussalam, sponsored the exhibition opening ceremony and visited the Sultanate’s pavilion. He was briefed on a number of the most important books displayed in the pavilion and expressed admiration for its contents of unique cultural and heritage exhibits.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel al Maskary, Sultanate’s ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, said that the aim of the participation of the Sultanate in Brunei Dar es Salaam Book Fair is to publicize the cultural and intellectual activities in the Sultanate through the main pavilion, which includes books and valuable publications in various fields of creative literary and intellectual heritage in Arabic and English that reflect a bright image of the Sultanate’s achievements in culture and knowledge under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. The Sultanate’s pavilion witnessed a turnout of Arab communities living in Brunei, citizens of Brunei, including officials, faculty, staff, teachers, college students and schools. The Sultanate’s Embassy distributed a large number of diverse publications, leaflets and cards bearing different pictures of the Sultanate, in addition to CDs and booklets about tourism in Oman. — ONA
