MUSCAT: The Sultanate’s road network has witnessed a significant expansion during the past number of years with the Ministry of Transport and Communications working hard to further boost the efficiency of roads through maintenance, dualisation, construction of overpasses and tunnels as well as constructing new roads all over the country. This was stated by Salim bin Mohammed al Nuaimi, Under-Secretary of Transport at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. He added: “A number of important road projects have been opened including 70 km of the Bidbid-Sur road, the first phase of Sinaw-Mahout-Duqm road (81 km) and the second phase of Mahout-Duqm road (100 km), some parts of the first phase of Al Batinah Express road (45 km) stretching from Halban intersection to Khabat Al Qaadan, 44-km portion from Khabat Al Qaadan to Wadi Al Haimli, a 46-km stretch from Wadi Al Haimli to Hafeet, 43 kilometres from Hafeet to the Wilayat of Suhar and a 41-km stretch from phase 5 in the Wilayat of Suhar to the Wilayat of Liwa.
