Muscat, Dec 24 - Photography is not allowed inside the Al Haram during the Haj or Umrah pilgrimage, warned the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, citing the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. If anyone is found taking photographs, their cameras or devices would be confiscated. “All companies, citizens and residents who wish to perform Umrah or Haj are prohibited from taking photographs or selfies with any devices inside the Haram campus,” said the statement. According to it, the decision was taken to “create a climate of worship for people visiting the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. Taking photographs spoils sanctity of the place.” If violations are found, the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia will confiscate the filming material and camera.
