2nd phase expansion boosts Oman Pharmaceuticals

SALALAH, Jan 10 - With the second phase expansion, the Salalah based Oman Pharmaceuticals Products Company (OPP) has emerged as one of largest suppliers of effervescent tablets in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries. The company already is the largest effervescent tablets supplier to the European countries. The second phase expansion of the company, which is located in Raysut Industrial Estate, was launched by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health. Jaideep Rai Singh, Chief Executive Officer of OPP, called the expansion a challenging but rewarding achievement of the company, which was established in 2001.


“Today we are fully integrated global healthcare provider with value chain strengths in the pharmaceutical sector. Our current expansion includes a quality control laboratory, new warehouse and a new line that makes effervescent tablets,” Singh said in his comments to Observer. Commenting on other achievements and successful business ventures, Singh put emphasis on the fact that the Salalah based company is also one of the largest suppliers of hormonal medicines to Germany and other European Union countries. The company supplies medicines to more than 40 countries across the globe consisting of the regulated markets like USA and EU, and semi-regulated markets like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and some non-regulated markets like Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Yemen.


The OPP’s facility is approved by the key regulatory authorities like MOH-Oman, US-FDA, MHRA-UK, TGA-Australia, GCC-DR, ANVISA-Brazil, MCC-South Africa and many more. The Health Minister and Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, along with other dignitaries and officials toured the OPP facility and expressed happiness over the company’s growth in a short span of time.
