Muscat, Jan 14 - Oman national team U-16 manager Yaqoob al Sabahi has called up 26 players for an internal training camp to continue their preparation for the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship in Malaysia. The training camp will take place in Muscat from January 21 to February 4. It is the second camp after they qualified for the Asian championship. The first camp was in December 2017 for one week. “The technical staff have a plan to conduct a monthly training camp for the young players so that they go to Malaysia ready to compete for the title.”
Hilal al Aufi, Oman team’s assistant coach told Oman Daily Observer. “We have contacted many football associations for a friendly game during this camp but without positive answer as they all have their commitments.” “We are still searching for a friendly with a good national team but if we don’t find one, we will play with any U-19 Omani club,’’ Al Aufi added. “It will be an important competition for us so we need to be well prepared for it as it includes tough teams like Iraq, Japan, Iran and South Korea.” Al Aufi said.
