MUSCAT: Darwish bin Ismaeel al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, on Tuesday received at the General Diwan of the Finance Ministry Dr Hala Helmy, Egyptian Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform, on the sidelines of the Egyptian President’s visit to the Sultanate. During the meeting, Al Balushi hailed the historic and political bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the Arab Republic of Egypt, pointing to the importance of enhancing the economic and trade relations between the two countries. On her turn, the Egyptian Minister expressed her delight to visit the Sultanate, stressing the importance of promoting the strong relations between the two countries.
The meeting touched on mechanisms of enhancing the economic and trade activities, as well as exploring the available investment opportunities in various sectors, such as mining, tourism and ports. The meeting stressed the importance of stimulating the investors from both sides to set up joint ventures in these sectors. The meeting also touched on the procedures regarding the avoidance of double taxation agreement between the two countries. The meeting was attended by Adviser of the Finance Ministry, Secretary-General of Taxation, Chairman of the State General Reserve Fund and the Egyptian Ambassador to the Sultanate. — ONA
