To encourage the habit of reading in all age categories, the Photographic Society of Oman has opened a photography exhibition celebrating books and reading materials as effective elements in the education process. The exhibition, “Read 2018”, now on display at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre features different photos with people reading hopefully to influence others and have life immitate art.
The exhibition is held under the patronage of FIAP and is also aimed to reinforce reading concepts and encourage next generations to read, making it part and parcel of their daily routine.
Around 346 participants from 33 countries competed to get a chance to exhibit their pictures in this mega gathering, and the total pictures accepted as entries were 947 photos. However, only 143 photos were accepted from 98 photographers.
The exhibition spotlights the different cultures of nations and their ways of enforcing reading. The Muslim reading view start with reading the Holy Quran as it is the first book taught to children since their early ages. In many other societies, comic books and children stories are the first choices, while it is common to read newspapers in the western communities.
A reading society embraces civilised values, is flexible and adaptable and has the intellectual capacity to drive development to take a role in the multicultural world. Read 2018, exhibition will enhance reading at the culture and will ignite a passion for reading in the society to build a generation that has a passion for reading and learning more about science and knowledge.
