The sixth edition of the Ramadhan Motorsports Festival began on Thursday at the Oman Automobile Association (OAA). Races and activities in different categories will be held during the festival in eight rounds including Drifting, SWS races for Karting, Auto-X races, Karting Endurance Races, Rally T-3 Cup and Gymkhana.
Ramadhan Motorsports Festival at OAA has recorded huge success in the previous years. Many spectators and huge crowds had registered in the last editions reflecting how much affection people have for motorsport.
OAA will strictly follow all the international standards in these kinds of races. Also, there will be professional teams that will guide the youth and participants in races for entering and exiting from the specified track. OAA addressed some rules and regulations for all the drivers who will take part in different competitions and races including wearing sportswear, wearing a thong, wearing seat belt and helmet. Also, a fire extinguisher will be available inside the driver’s car to make sure there is no leaking of oil in fuel tank, engine oil and steering wheel and installing the battery, connectors and wires properly.
“OAA were working effectively since while ago to prepare for Ramadhan Motorsports Festival activities. The holy month of Ramadhan is a golden opportunity to provide complete package of motorsports tournaments and also different activities for the whole family to have fun time at the OAA,” Brigadier (retired) Salim bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Maskari, chairman of the Board of Directors of OAA, said.
“Race tournaments will be held during Ramadhan. First round of drifting competitions and SWS Karting races championship will be scheduled for the first week of Ramadhan while Auto — X Karting championship and Karting Endurance Championship will take part in the second week of Ramadhan. In third week of Ramadhan, there will be Karting T-3 championship and Gymkhana competitions while the second round of Karting championship and Karting SWS to be organised in the fourth week of the Ramadan Motorsports Festival. There will be training sessions for all the drivers prior the beginning of races.” Al Maskari added.
Oman medical motorsports team, Marshall team, safety team and parking/security management team will participate as organisers with OAA to play an important role in the success of the activities of the Oman Motor Society. The mentioned teams were in some local and international championships and have the required experience to serve these kinds of races and activities.
