MUSCAT, August 29 - League leaders Dhofar will clash with Oman Club in the third round of Omantel League at Al Saada Sports Complex on Thursday. The defending champions Al Suwaiq, will take on Al Nasr at the same venue. Sohar will face off against Mirbat at Sohar Sports Complex and Al Nahdha will play against Al Shabab at Al Buraimi Sports Complex. On Friday, Muscat will meet Al Rustaq at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex while Saham will take on Majees in Sohar Sports Complex. Sur and Al Oruba will lock horns in the southern Al Sharqiyah derby at Sur Sports Complex.


the season opener which ended in a penalty shootout victory for Al Nasr. It is considered as one of the crucial matches for this round. Both teams will be playing with some of their top stars in action.

The third placed, Sohar, are attempting to reach for the seven points as they will face off against Mirbat. Sohar coach Anas Makhloof will instruct his players to exploit the scoring opportunities and Sohar players will use the home advantage and fans’ support to bring up their best performances. On the other hand, Mirbat players will enter the match aiming to recover from their loss in the last round against Dhofar and victory will jump them to the top zone teams.


Last year’s runner-up Al Shabab, will look to register their second win as they meet Al Nahdha. Al Shabab had beaten Majees 2-0 in the previous round. Al Shabab fans would be hoping for the best for the team this season as there were very close last few seasons to lift the league title. Al Shabab’s task will not be as easy as Al Nahdha will be playing at their home stadium, Al Buraimi Sports Complex, as the players adapted having played matches there. Al Nahdha is also looking to break the string of drawn results as they were held to stalemates in the last two matches against Sur and Al Suwaiq.
