MUSCAT: A group of 58 students and staff members of Sohar University visited Orpic on a study tour. The senior students pursuing Bachelors in Business Administration were introduced to the public relations practices of Orpic.
External Relations Department head Saeed al Maamari and Markets and Logistics administrator Naeema al Zufaiti received the delegation of boys, girls and staff members of the faculty.
Having been briefed about safety aspects, the students were given an introduction to Orpic and its history using video and power point presentation. Daeij al Hosni, the head of security, briefed the students about the safety rules and procedures at Orpic. Naeema al Zufaiti and Saeed al Maamari gave the subject-specific talk, which was followed by an intensive question-answer session.
Course coordinator Dr Shweta moderated the session to make students understand the link between theory and practical components as it applies in maintaining external relations at Orpic.
“It was a very well-conceived study tour which helped the students learn PR practices in authentic real-life contexts,” said Nibras al Rashdi, the student council representative of the university. Dr Rakesh Belwal, Amal al Badi and Khoula al Shibli also attended the event.
