20 races on second day of HM Camel Cup in Barka

The competitions of the 2025 His Majesty the Sultan’s Camel Cup Festival continued for the second consecutive day, organised by the Royal Court Affairs (RCA), represented by the Royal Camel Corps (RCC), at Al Fulaij racetrack in the Wilayat of Barka on Monday. The event attracted a large audience from various governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate of Oman, with camel racing enthusiasts flocking to witness this major annual event.


On the second day, 20 races were held in the Lagaya category over a distance of 5 kilometres, divided into two sessions: 14 races in the morning and six main races in the evening, with six cars and four icons for the winners.


The morning session of the second day of the HM Camel Cup Festival witnessed strong competition across fourteen races in the Luqaya category over a distance of 5 km. In the first race, Jabbara, owned by Hamid al Saifi, secured first place. Al Tayer, owned by Amer al Wahibi, took the lead in the second race, while Fakhar, owned by Matar al Habsi, claimed victory in the third. The fourth race saw Al Shamikh, owned by Ali al Wahibi, finish first, followed by Dawlah, owned by Ahmed al Rashdi, who won the fifth race. Haddad, belonging to Ibrahim al Wahibi, came first in the sixth race, and Al Nood, owned by Hamad al Habsi, claimed top honours in the seventh.


In the eighth race, Inthar, owned by Hamad al Wahibi, took the lead, while Jalmood, owned by Al Hamdi al Dar’i, secured first in the ninth. The 10th race was won by Al Jathabah, owned by Abdullah al Malki, and Mashouqah, owned by Nasser al Zari, took first in the 11th. Al Wadhihi, owned by Salih al Wahibi, came first in the 12th race, while Thaminah, owned by Aidh al Habsi, dominated the 13th. The 14th and final race of the morning session was won by Ghayah, owned by Othman al Qanoubi.


In the evening competitions, Al Andalus, owned by Mubarak al Jadali, won the first round. In the second round, Thameen, owned by Ahmed al Wahaibi, claimed victory and received a dagger and a car. Shawahin, owned by Amer al Amri, took first place in the third round, earning a shield and a car. In the fourth round, Al Hurr, owned by Hamad al Wahibi, won and was awarded a shield and a car. Najwa, owned by Hamoud al Maharbi, won the fifth round and received a car. In the sixth round, Mazoon, owned by Humaid al Amri, secured first place and was awarded a car.


On the third day of the festival, nine races will be held in the ‘Yathaa’ category (for camels aged 4 years), covering a distance of 6 km in the morning session. The competition will feature three cars and two icons as grand prizes, in addition to cash awards for the top 10 winners in each race.
