MUSCAT: The Royal Camel Corps under the Royal Court Affairs officially opened the Heritage Village accompanying His Majesty the Sultan’s Camel Cup Festival On Sunday. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Eng Hilal bin Muhammad al Waeli, Head of Horse and Camel Affairs, Royal Farms and Gardens, was attended by a large audience amidst a lively traditional atmosphere.


The village features a wide range of sections and activities that reflect the richness of Omani heritage. Among them is the 'Village Arena', which hosts unique competitions such as camel-back handball, and the 'Village Square', which presents live performances depicting the Bedouin caravan and traditional Omani musical arts such as Al Hamasiya. There are also interactive competitions for visitors.


The 'Village Theatre' hosts musical evenings and artistic performances presented by the Royal Camel Corps bands, while the 'Bedouin Tent' offers authentic displays of Omani heritage arts including Al Wana, Al Tariq, Al Taghrood, and Al Hambal, providing a fully immersive experience that reflects the essence of Omani cultural identity.


A special section is dedicated to the Royal Court Affairs Units, showcasing the achievements of the Royal Camel Corps and the Royal Cavalry, alongside the contributions of the Royal Farms and Gardens and their products. The General Directorate of Veterinary Services also participates by highlighting its efforts in veterinary and laboratory services, in addition to displays by the Royal Hospitality Department and the Astronomical Observatory.


In support of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and productive families, the Royal Camel Corps has provided space for their participation in the village. This year’s edition includes 24 SME projects, 12 productive family initiatives, and 6 agricultural enterprises, alongside active participation from the Omani Women’s Association in the Wilayat of Barka in an exhibition featuring local products such as dates and agricultural tools.


The village aims to be a cultural, commercial, and entertainment platform that embodies authentic Omani heritage and enhances the presence of traditional events within the national cultural scene.
