Muscat: During its meeting on Tuesday, the Majlis Ash'shura office reviewed the response from the Minister of Education regarding the inquiry about the vocational and technical education project.

The response indicated that the ministry's implementation of vocational and technical education stems from His Majesty the Sultan's directives calling for the development of education at its various levels and types. This initiative aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the School Education Law, which emphasises the importance of providing students with the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to pursue specialised education and enter the labour market.

The meeting also addressed the response from the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs concerning the inquiry about the Omani pilgrims' camp for the 1446 AH Haj season. The response noted that the ministry has held official meetings this year with specialists from the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia to discuss the current state of the Omani camp in Mina and Arafat and opportunities for its improvement. Efforts are underway to gradually enhance its infrastructure until the comprehensive strategic project, currently being developed by the Saudi authorities, is implemented.

The office reviewed the response from the Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority regarding the inquiry about certain financial and administrative matters of companies affiliated with the Authority. The office also examined the response from the Governor of Al Batinah North to the inquiry about building permits on land distributed in wadis. The response indicated that work is underway to halt the issuance of building permits on lands located in wadi and reefs. Furthermore, the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning in the governorate has been directed to stop allocating residential land to citizens in these areas, in coordination with the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources.

During the meeting, the members considered several follow-up tools. These included reviewing a question directed to the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning regarding violations by some engineering consultancy offices. They also examined an inquiry addressed to the Chairman of the Environment Authority about protecting natural resources from pollution and depletion, and another to the Chairperson of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority concerning support for small and medium enterprises to boost the tourism sector. Additionally, they looked into an inquiry directed to the Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority regarding delays in services provided by be'ah Company.

This took place during the eighth regular meeting chaired by Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, with the presence of members and Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Majlis Ash'shura.
