HARBIN: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Friday received the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia, signifying the official handover for the 10th Asian Winter Games to be held in Trojena, NEOM, as the first country in West Asia to host this continental sporting event.

The flag handover took place during the closing ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games, held on Friday at the Harbin International Conference Exhibition and Sports Center, in the presence of officials and representatives from 45 Asian countries. His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al Faisal, Minister of Sports, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and head of the Saudi delegation at the Games, received the Asian flag from the vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia, Timothy Tsun Ting FOK.

During the ceremony the official logo of the NEOM Asian Winter Games was unveiled.

The design draws inspiration from the mountains of NEOM, symbolising the city's strength and ambition. The letter “A” connects memorably with the Asian Winter Games and the mountainous environs. Finally, the textures of the NEOM future loop capture the spirit of progress and innovation.

In a press statement, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki al Faisal welcomed all Asian nations participating in this edition of the Asian Winter Games. He promised an exceptional event in NEOM, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone.

His Royal Highness said: "The Kingdom is witnessing a significant transformation in the sports sector, thanks to the guidance and generous support provided by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. This has resulted in making the Kingdom a preferred destination and an ideal home for major global and continental sporting events." Many prominent global sports figures attended the closing ceremony, and distinguished leaders and presidents of national Olympic committees across Asia.
