Workshop to empower staff on robotic process

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), represented by the Innovation and Development Department, organised a workshop on robotic process automation as one of the main drivers of digital innovation, targeting administrative employees in various divisions of the Authority.


The cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT), represented by the General-Directorate of Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment, aimed to enhance work mechanisms, joint cooperation, exchange practical experiences, develop future skills among national cadres, and transfer knowledge between the two parties. Robotic process automation helps gain knowledge and develop the career path in one of the thriving industries in the current economy based on digital technology.


The workshop, presented by Yusra bint Saif al Maamariyah, Head of the Innovative Solutions Section at the Directorate, aimed to introduce participants to the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and robotic process automation in digital innovation, as these technologies are the main driver of it, the concept of process automation and its importance, and reviewing the tools and techniques used in automation, while providing practical examples of automation applications. In addition, it enables participants to understand how to apply automation in their work.


"This workshop is part of the programmes organised by the Innovation and Development Department at the Authority in cooperation with government and private institutions to benefit from their scientific and practical expertise in the field of technical and institutional innovation with the aim of enhancing the innovation environment in the Authority and developing and improving the efficiency and quality of work." Said, Aida al Zadjali, Director of the Innovation and Development Department. The workshop also addressed the benefits of robotic process automation such as increasing productivity, saving time and costs, and improving quality, and the most prominent challenges that an institution may face to implement it, such as high initial costs, changing the institutional culture and how to overcome them.
