The Governorate of Al Sharqiyah South organised a training workshop entitled Strengthening the Role of Local Administration in the Development of Governorates, in cooperation with Jadara Development Company, to enable local leaders to face challenges and enhance sustainable development. The workshop, held in the presence of Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, Governor of Al Sharqiyah South, is part of a series of programmes aimed at developing leadership skills and enhancing administrative capabilities within the framework of Oman Vision 2040. Dr Al Maawali said, “Developing leadership skills and analytical capabilities of local administration workers is one of the priorities that the governorate seeks to achieve to ensure comprehensive and sustainable development.” The workshop was supervised by Dr Bakhit al Shibli, a trainer specialising in developing individual and institutional performance, who provided participants with five main tools to enhance their performance in local administration. These tools included:
Training workshops to develop analysis and decision-making skills.
Simulations to gain experience by representing real-life situations.
Modelling successful experiences to benefit from international and local best practices.
Accumulated experiences to encourage interaction and knowledge exchange between participants.
Designing hypothetical scenarios to anticipate the future and improve response to potential challenges.
The workshop covered topics related to aligning operational plans with Oman Vision 2040, which aims to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development across all sectors. It also addressed building development indicators to monitor progress and achieve the desired goals of development plans. Dr Al Shibli said, “Oman Vision 2040 provides a clear framework for achieving sustainable development, and enabling local cadres to use effective tools to achieve this vision is essential to ensure its success.” The workshop received significant interaction from participants, who praised the training content and practical tools provided. They noted that the skills and knowledge acquired would contribute to improving their administrative performance and enable them to face development challenges more effectively. This workshop is an important step in enhancing the role of local administration in achieving sustainable development in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate. By developing leadership skills and enabling local cadres to use the latest tools and methodologies, the governorate seeks to achieve comprehensive development in line with Oman Vision 2040. These initiatives confirm the governorate's commitment to supporting local leaders and enhancing their capabilities to achieve a more prosperous and sustainable future.
