Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received a phone call from Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State on Friday.

The US Secretary of State expressed his congratulations to the leadership and people of the Sultanate of Oman on the occasion of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s Accession Day.

During the call, views were exchanged on a range of regional and international issues of common interest, including efforts to enhance security and stability in the region, and the importance of supporting dialogue and international cooperation in facing common challenges.

In the context of the call, Sayyid Badr expressed the Sultanate of Oman's condolences and solidarity with the government and people of the United States of America in confronting the forest fires that recently broke out in the state of California, praising the great efforts made by the American authorities to contain this disaster and limit its effects on the population and property.

The two sides also stressed their commitment to strengthening the Omani-American partnership and the existing historical friendship ties, and to continue developing cooperation relations in all fields and joint coordination in a way that contributes to consolidating the foundations of peace, stability, and sustainable development at the regional and international levels.

Meanwhile, the State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said that Blinken and Sayyid Badr discussed regional stability, including the election of the new President, and continued efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza that secures the release of all hostages and surges humanitarian assistance.

The Secretary reaffirmed US support for a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned peaceful political transition to an inclusive, representative, and accountable government.
