Al Nahda hold leaders Seeb as OL resumes

The thrilling encounter between Al Nahda and Seeb ended in a 1-1 draw in the postponed seventh round of the Omantel Football League.


The first half witnessed offensive attempts from both teams. Seeb relied on the movements of Arshad al Alawi and Jameel al Yahmadi, while Al Nahda resorted to long-range shots and long balls. Some chances nearly turned into goals, but the half concluded in a goalless draw.


In the second half, Seeb opened the scoring in the 55th minute through Abdulrahman al Mushaifri after a well-organised attack. Seeb continued to press, but Al Nahda goalkeeper Ibrahim al Mukhaini brilliantly saved their attempts. In the 70th minute, Al Nahda was awarded a penalty, successfully converted by Alexander Medeiros to level the score. Both teams exchanged attacks in the final minutes without altering the result. Seeb maintained the top spot in the league with 31 points, leading Al Nahda by four points, who sit in second place with 27 points.


The match between Al Rustaq and Sur ended in a goalless draw at the Al Rustaq Sports Complex.


The game saw balanced performances from both sides, with neither team managing to capitalise on opportunities to secure a win as they both shrived to escape the lower positions in the standings. Al Rustaq, under the guidance of their returning Romanian coach Mihai, aimed for a positive result but faced a solid and organised defence from Sur.


Sur relied on sudden long balls during the first half but failed to pose a significant threat to Al Rustaq's goal. Meanwhile, Al Rustaq players continued their attempts in vain against Sur’s tight defence.


With this draw, Sur raised their tally to eight points, placing them 11th, while Al Rustaq remained in 12th and last place with six points.


IBRI DRAW WITH SAHAM


Ibri and Saham ended their match in a 1-1 draw at the Ibri Sports Complex.


Ibri started the match with offensive pressure, and Dawood al Jabri nearly scored early, but Saham’s goalkeeper Hassan al Buraiki blocked his shot. In the 28th minute, Youssef Bouabid scored the opening goal for Saham after a precise cross from Abdullah al Marikhi, concluding the first half with Saham leading 1-0.


In the second half, Ibri equalised in the 50th minute through a header by Jacques Bessan following a pass from Abdulaziz al Mandhari. Both teams continued to search for a winning goal, but the brilliance of both goalkeepers and defensive lines prevented any further goals, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.


With this result, Saham raised their points to 15, temporarily holding fifth place, while Ibri increased their points to 14, placing them in sixth.
