MUSCAT, JAN 6

Al Bashayer Club kicked off the final round of the 2024–2025 Oman Basketball League with a well-deserved victory over Nizwa Club at the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in the Wilayat of Bausher. With this 65-41 win, Al Bashayer earned two points, while Nizwa gained one point.

The match witnessed a competitive performance, with Al Bashayer dominating all four quarters thanks to their collective teamwork and individual player skills. Standout performances from Al Bashayer players, including professional Samkelo Brian, Saeed al Saadi, Osama al Riyami and Hadeed Beit Bakhit, played a key role in securing the victory.

Al Bashayer started strong, relying on swift attacks and precise shooting. Slavine opened the scoring with four points under the basket following excellent passes from his teammates, while Nizwa responded with a remarkable three-pointer by Agassil Tanyon. Al Bashayer continued their offensive pressure, capitalising on Nizwa’s defensive weaknesses, adding 15 more points through the brilliance of Samkelo Brian and Saeed al Saadi. The first quarter ended with Al Bashayer leading 19-10.

In the second quarter, Al Bashayer maintained their strong performance, extending their lead thanks to excellent coordination among players. Hadeed Beit Bakhit scored several points from long-range shots, while Osama al Riyami contributed by making crucial passes and accurate shots. On the other hand, Nizwa attempted to regain balance through counterattacks, but Al Bashayer’s solid defence prevented them from significantly narrowing the gap. Al Bashayer scored 23 points in this quarter compared to Nizwa’s 14, finishing the first half with a 42-24 lead.

The third quarter was relatively calm compared to the previous ones, as Al Bashayer focused on defence to maintain their lead. The team scored nine points, with Slavine and Samkelo Brian excelling in ball possession and executing fast breaks. Nizwa, despite their efforts to reduce the deficit, managed only seven points due to offensive errors and missed opportunities. The third quarter ended with Al Bashayer leading 51-31.

Entering the final quarter with high confidence, Al Bashayer continued to deliver a strong team performance. They added 14 points, with consistent contributions from Samkelo Brian and Hadeed Beit Bakhit. Meanwhile, Nizwa's players doubled their efforts but managed only 10 points, hindered by Al Bashayer's tight defence, which closed spaces and thwarted Nizwa’s attempts to narrow the gap. The match concluded with Al Bashayer securing a 65-41 victory.

The match was officiated by international referees Issam al Siyabi (first referee), Thani al Khalasi (second referee) and Ali al Salmani (third referee). The table officials included Maryam al Zadjali, Mahmoud al Ajmi, and Fatima al Harthy.
