Muscat:The Royal Oman Police (ROP) unveiled a groundbreaking initiative with the launch of 11 new electronic services in 2024 aimed at simplifying procedures, enhancing efficiency, and aligning with Oman’s digital transformation agenda, offering seamless access to key government services for both citizens and residents.


The move reflected ROP’s commitment to innovation and modernisation, emphasising the use of cutting-edge technology to improve public service delivery. The new e-services span a wide range of areas, from traffic management to civil registration, making daily interactions with government processes more convenient.


Here are the E-Services at a glance


1. Digital Identity Service: Secure access to government platforms using advanced digital identification.


2. Traffic Violations Display: View and monitor traffic fines electronically without visiting police stations.


3. First-Time Vehicle Registration: Complete vehicle registration processes online, streamlining the onboarding of new vehicles.


4. Mortgage Transactions Online: Add or remove mortgage details digitally without paperwork.


5. Traffic Safety Portal: A digital gateway for road safety training and resources.


6. Self-Service Vehicle Renewal: Renew vehicle registrations through self-service kiosks available nationwide.


7. Electronic Marriage Contract Registration: A collaboration with the Supreme Judiciary Council for efficient marital status updates.


8. Digital Traffic Fine Payments: Pay fines through electronic wallets and platforms like “Tasdeed.”


9. Fingerprint Applications via ROP App: Submit fingerprint requests through a user-friendly mobile app.


10. Reissuing Lost Vehicle Licenses: Self-service kiosks enable fast reissuance of lost licenses without waiting in queues.


11. Integrated Medical Visa Screening: Streamlined medical screening services for visa applications in partnership with the Ministry of Health.


This initiative is a significant step towards achieving Oman Vision 2040, the Sultanate’s blueprint for economic diversification and digital transformation.


For Oman’s large expatriate community and international visitors, these services added convenience. Digital tools like online vehicle registration, visa screening, and traffic fine payments have helped eliminate much of the complexity.


They also reflect Oman’s growing focus on becoming a global hub for innovation and technology.
