MUSCAT: The National Museum has unveiled its innovative 'Audio Guide' service to provide visitors with an enriched and immersive exploration of its exhibition halls and curated collections.
The service, featuring 395 items, is available in both Arabic and English and offers two navigation modes: self-guided and group navigation. Designed with inclusivity in mind, the Audio Guide includes features for visitors with disabilities, such as audio descriptions for the visually impaired and sign language support for the hearing impaired. It also incorporates user-friendly audio-visual instructions and an interactive map to guide visitors through the museum's exhibits.
This initiative aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, aiming to foster digital transformation while adding cognitive and cultural depth to visitors’ experiences. It facilitates a deeper understanding of Oman’s heritage and encourages meaningful interaction with the exhibits.
In December, the museum also launched a 'Virtual Tour' service on its official website, enabling users to explore its halls and rare collections online, offering a glimpse into Oman’s rich historical narrative. This step reinforces the museum's commitment to accessibility, innovation and cultural enrichment. — ONA
