MUSCAT: The 2025 edition of the 'Tour of Oman', one of the world’s most sought-after annual professional road bicycle racing, will be held from February 8 to February 12 in and around Al Sawadi Beach Oman.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in coordination with Oman Cycling Association (OCA) and many government and private entities, 'The Tour of Oman', which has been eagerly looked at by the cycling fraternity across the world since its inception in 2010, will witness world-renowned pedalists vying for the position of the top cyclist.
The five-day sporting event has been divided into five distinct stages and the Stage 1 men Elite category of the races in Individual Road Race 2 Pro — stages in the ProSeries is scheduled to begin on February 9, 2025 while the Stage 2 of the Men Elite category in Individual Road Race 2 Pro — Stages — ProSeries is expected to be held on February 10.
The Stage 3 men Elite category in the Individual Road Race 2 Pro — stages — ProSeries will be on 10 February, followed by The Stage 4 men Elite category of the races in Individual Road Race 2 Pro — stages in the ProSeries on February 11.
The Stage 5 of the Individual Road Race Men Elite 2 Pro — Stages — ProSeries is scheduled to be held on February 12 and the final result in Men Elite category Individual Road Race 2 Pro — Stages — ProSeries will follow.
The last edition of the cycling spectacle was held from February 10 to 14 with the participation of 17 teams of seven riders representing well-known teams from Asia, Australia, Europe and the US.
The last 'Tour of Oman' 2024 edition, Adam Yates, a British rider of UAE Team Emirates claimed the overall victory after winning the last loop of the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Stage after delivering an outstanding performance to overcome Jan Hirt of Soudal Quick-Step by a few seconds. Yates crossed the finish line a few seconds in advance to take the title honours and leader’s red jersey.
Adam Yates completed the full tour within 14 hours, 22 minutes and 30 seconds while Jan Hirt of Czech Republic finished as runners up after ending the full tour within 14 hours, 22 minutes and 49 seconds. The New Zealander rider, Finn Lachlan Fox Fisher, ended in third place as he clocked 14 hours, 23 minutes and 9 seconds.
