MUSCAT: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences organised a workshop titled ‘Service Inventory, Description, and Documentation’ as part of its efforts to enhance the efficiency and quality of services provided and support the goals of digital transformation. The workshop aimed to prepare the university for the launch of the National Unified Portal for Government Services by January, focusing on fostering collaboration between departments and entities to ensure precise and effective implementation. Rashed bin Saif al Siyabi, Head of the Entrepreneurship Department, said, "The richness of this workshop lies in the purposeful and in-depth discussions among all participants involved in digital transformation programmes. The expertise and knowledge of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology were valuable and insightful. Their experience and advice were key to a better understanding of the concepts of process reengineering and simplification.” Dr Noor bint Abdullah al Shanfariyah, Assistant Head of the Centre for Training and Career Guidance, emphasised that the university is committed to enhancing transparency and providing clear references for stakeholders through achieving integration among all departments and adopting best practices for documenting and classifying services.

Munir bin Mohammed Sawakhroon, Head of the Coordination and Follow-Up Department at the university's Salalah branch, highlighted the workshop's role in improving the university's operations and enhancing the quality of services offered to beneficiaries. This aligns with the university's ongoing efforts to support digital transformation objectives across various aspects of its operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. The workshop covered several key topics, including a detailed explanation by a team from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology on the Unified Services Directory System. They outlined the operational mechanisms and data update requirements to ensure seamless digital integration among government institutions. Additionally, the workshop featured a presentation by Dr Youssef al Khamisi, a representative from Quality and Business Company, who shared insights from his experience in implementing the service inventory and simplification project at the university, shedding light on achievements and lessons learned. The university’s Digital Transformation Programme team, through this workshop, aims to raise awareness about the importance of service inventory in simplifying processes, unifying data and promoting institutional integration. The university remains committed to fostering collaboration, innovation and the development of smart and proactive services that support sustainable development.
