KUWAIT: Oman will aim to land their third title as they take on Bahrain in the final of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup at Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Stadium in Kuwait City at 8 pm (Oman time).

Oman have won two titles in the 19th and the 23rd editions, while Bahrain have one title in the 24th edition.

Oman head coach Rasheed bin Jaber al Yafei said the team will put in all efforts to win the title.

“The team's preparation in general was good, our team will play a difficult match against a strong competitor with good elements and the match requires effort and focus,” he stated in the press conference ahead of the final match.

“The preparations for the final match were mainly recovery after the physical pressure we experienced during the tense semifinal and group matches,” Rasheed Jaber said.

Jaber continued, “Our goal was to be in the final and we succeeded and we will make the fans happy by winning the tournament.”

“We play as a team and we trust all the elements on the team's roster, whether first player or substitutions.”

“The past matches in the Gulf cup tournaments will remain for history and we want to make a new history,” he added.

Oman captain Mohammed al Musalmi said the players will put in their best performance in the final.

“The team that will have the least mistakes is the most likely to win the match,” he said.

“Our team players are well aware of the difficulty of the match and are ready to give their utmost during this match.”

“Most of our players have played in the final of the last tournament final against Iraq in Basra, and we will support the young players and motivate them to achieve this title,” he concluded.

Bahrain team coach Dragan Talajic said they will miss Mahdi Abduljabbar in their line-up due to the red card.

"We will miss Mahdi after red card against Kuwait. It made me sad because he is one of the good players among the best players in the group.”

“The support provided by all in Bahrain and giving them a Sunday off is great, but in time it will form pressure to please all the Bahrainis fans,” he ended.

The final match will be managed by a Qatari refereeing crew led by Abdulrahman al Jassim, assisted by Saud Ahmed and Taleb al Marri. Khamis al Marri will be in charge of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.
