Education remains a cornerstone of Oman’s Vision 2040, and the 2025 state budget reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a knowledgeable and skilled generation. By allocating significant resources to development projects within the education sector, Oman is laying the foundation for sustainable growth and socio-economic progress.
One of the key priorities of the 2025 budget is the construction of 20 new government schools across the Sultanate. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for educational facilities, ensuring every child has access to quality learning environments. In addition, the Ministry of Finance plans to tender 22 new projects for the construction of more schools, further underscoring the government’s strategic focus on expanding educational infrastructure.
To accommodate the increasing number of students entering primary education, the budget also targets the enrollment of over 45,000 students in grade one. This reflects Oman’s dedication to meeting the needs of its younger population, ensuring that no child is left behind in their pursuit of education.
Oman’s scholarship programs continue to play a pivotal role in developing a globally competitive workforce. The 2025 budget provides for 56,000 scholarships under domestic and international programs, enabling students to pursue higher education and specialized training in diverse fields. These opportunities empower students to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development upon graduation.
Additionally, the Oman Pioneers Program, which supports 150 outstanding students on five-year scholarships abroad, remains a key initiative. By investing in exceptional talent, the government is cultivating future leaders who will bring global expertise and innovation to Oman’s industries and institutions.
Recognizing the growing demand for higher education, the government has also allocated funds for the construction of additional buildings and halls at branches of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar and Ibri. These expansions aim to improve the capacity and quality of higher education institutions, ensuring students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
The initiatives outlined in the 2025 budget reflect a forward-thinking approach to education that aligns with Oman’s broader development goals. By investing in infrastructure, scholarships, and higher education, the government is not only addressing immediate needs but also preparing the nation for a knowledge-based economy.
These efforts highlight the crucial role education plays in driving Oman’s progress, fostering a generation equipped to face future challenges and contribute to the country’s prosperity. As Oman continues its journey toward Vision 2040, the emphasis on education will undoubtedly remain a central pillar of its development strategy.
