MUSCAT, JAN 1
Muscat Nights festival, which opened on December 23, has completed its first week and has significantly enhanced the city's nightlife.
According to official estimates, over 250,000 people visited various festival venues in the first five days until December 28. It is expected that this number will increase in the new year, especially with arrangements for visitors to watch the Gulf Cup final between Oman and Bahrain.
The daily events at Muscat Nights continue until 11 pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
With the pleasant weather, the city's night venues are bustling with visitors of all ages. Al Naseem Public Park is the largest venue, offering ample space for visitors to enjoy the night with friends and family.
Main attractions at Al Naseem Public Park include electric games for children, halwa-making stalls, traditional Omani performances starting at 5 pm and fireworks. The park has been renovated, especially the restrooms and benches, giving it a fresh look.
While activities are limited compared to other venues, it remains a popular spot for residents of Muscat, Barka and other parts of Al Batinah South Governorate.
Organisers have strategically spread out Muscat Nights across the capital, ensuring that residents from all corners of the city have access to at least one venue during the event. A live kitchen selling Omani snacks and sweets is a major draw, as it is a staple in all festivals.
"Omani foods and sweets are only easily available during heritage events, as there are limited shops or restaurants selling authentic Omani food prepared openly in front of others," noted one visitor.
A performance by the Mounted Police Command is scheduled at Al Naseem Public Park on January 17.
