MUSCAT: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has issued a decision to determine the percentage of employment of non-Omanis in Network Operations Centres (NOC).

The decision, which addresses TRA licensees, seeks to raise the efficiency of national cadres, enabling them to manage this vital sector in line with the Authority’s strategy and the approaches of Oman Vision 2040.

The decision sets the aforementioned percentage at a maximum of 6 per cent of the total number of employees in these centres.

The licensees who have not yet achieved the above-mentioned percentage are granted a period of up to 8 months to adjust their status in line with the specified percentage.

The decision also instructs the licensees to submit a clear-cut Omanisation plan that will be reviewed and approved by the TRA. It also requires the licensees to submit monthly follow-up reports on the implementation of their respective plans.

The reports have to indicate the progress made in achieving this percentage, as per the TRA decision. — ONA
