His Majesty sets vision for growth and development at Council meeting

- His Majesty the Sultan praised, while presiding over the Council of Ministers meeting, the efforts made by the council, its committees and the government and the achievements and contributions towards the development and advancement of the comprehensive development paths witnessed by the country at all levels.


- His Majesty directed the Council of Ministers to continue focusing on the positive factors that stir economic growth, and to support the role of the private sector in benefiting from the partnership opportunities available for the programmes and projects implemented by the government as well as the strategic economic and trade agreements the Sultanate of Oman has recently ratified with other countries.


- His Majesty stressed the importance of following up on the implementation of the national policy for local content with the aim of enhancing local industries, encouraging the establishment of local projects, reducing imports and increasing exports and supporting productive industries.


- The Council of Ministers directed the relevant authorities to follow up on the implementation of the current five-year development plan, evaluate its achievements and the challenges it is facing and complete the remaining projects. The council stressed the importance that the eleventh five-year development plan includes programmes and projects to implement the priorities and indicators of Oman Vision 2040 as planned taking into account enhancing the growth of projects that are expected to provide value-added to the national economy and provide job opportunities for citizens.


- His Majesty stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the concerned authorities in a manner that enhances economic growth, creates job opportunities for citizens and improves the Sultanate of Oman’s indicators in all fields.


- His Majesty expressed his satisfaction over the positive results achieved in the health sector praising the role of the Ministry of Health and its achievements.


- The Council of Ministers directed the establishment of a national centre for ophthalmology and eye surgery.


- The Council of Ministers approved the establishment of the National Human Genome and Data Programme (Omani Genome) at the Ministry of Health with the aim of creating a national genetic and hereditary database.


- The Council of Ministers directed to set up a national programme for early detection of the most common cancer among women by establishing 7 early detection units covering all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and expanding nuclear medicine services by establishing a radioisotope production facility and a nuclear pharmacy.


- His Majesty stressed the importance to continuously follow up on the performance of the social protection system and its programmes and to constantly evaluate them.


- The Council of Ministers stressed the importance of integrating the efforts of the authorities overseeing the economic sectors that generate job opportunities to develop appropriate plans and mechanisms for replacement and localization in those sectors to accelerate the employment of nationals, especially job seekers.


- His Majesty directed the Council of Ministers to conduct the necessary studies on the social phenomena, the challenges facing the population and their social, economic and cultural impacts and to develop specific programmes and policies to find appropriate solutions to the challenges.


- His Majesty affirmed the continuation of cooperation with all countries in all fields to achieve common interests in a manner consistent with the Sultanate of Oman’s constants and established principles.
