Nizwa: The University of Nizwa marked its annual Scientific Research Day for the academic year 2023-2024 with an inspiring event held at Al Hazm Hall. Held under the auspices of Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the celebration showcased the university’s impressive contributions to research and innovation.
The event featured 100 research posters highlighting projects supported by institutional and strategic grants. Nine patents and several industry-ready projects were also unveiled, reflecting the university’s dedication to advancing applied sciences and innovation.
In his address, Prof Ahmed al Harrasi, Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research and External Relations, emphasised the university’s focus on national priorities such as food security, pharmaceuticals and cybersecurity. He noted key milestones, including 3,500+ peer-reviewed publications, 26 patents, and investments exceeding RO 70 million in research.
The event also introduced the inaugural issue of Al Khalil Journal for Arts and Design Studies and the official website of the Maeen Endowment Foundation, which provides academic and financial support to students. Collaborative agreements with entities like the Industrial Innovation Academy and the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund further underscored the university’s commitment to fostering impactful research partnerships.
The day concluded with awards for the Best Research Poster competition and recognition of distinguished researchers. Dr Rahma toured the research exhibition, commending the diverse projects and their alignment with Oman Vision 2040.
