MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman's gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices recorded an increase of 1.9 per cent at the end of the third quarter of 2024, reaching RO 28.146 billion, compared to RO 27.632 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2023.
Preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the added value of oil activities decreased by 2.8 per cent, recording RO 8.881 billion by the end of the third quarter of this year, compared to RO 9.133 billion by the end of Q3 2023.
Crude oil activities accounted for 31.6 per cent of GDP. In value term, the sector’s contribution to GDP reached RO 7.479 billion, entailing a decline of 4.1 per cent over the year. Natural gas activities increased by 4.7 per cent, recording RO 1.401 billion.
The added value of non-oil activities increased by 4.2 per cent, recording RO 20.527 billion, up from RO 19.706 billion a year earlier.
Total industrial output was recorded at RO 6.220 billion, up from RO 5.889 billion in 2023. Agriculture, forestry and fishing activities accounted for RO 735.700 million of GDP, while service activities totaled RO 13.571 billion (ONA)
