Tears, prayers as Asia mourns Tsunami dead 20 years on

Mourners pray at the site of a destroyed health centre next to the Ulee Lheue mass grave, one of the two major burial sites where victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami were laid to rest, in Banda Aceh on December 26, 2024, the 20th anniversary of the disaster. Tearful mourners prayed as ceremonies began across Asia to remember the 220,000 people who died two decades ago when a tsunami hit coastlines around the Indian Ocean, in one of the world's worst natural disasters. — AFP
