MUSCAT: The Al Manar Racing by Getspeed trio of Oman’s Al Faisal bin Khalid al Zubair, Austrian Dominik Baumann and Canada’s Mikael Grenier were joined by their GT3 race engineer Marie-Line Fine to receive their awards for finishing second in the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings in the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS Endurance Cup at the glitzy SRO Awards ceremony in Paris recently.

The Mercedes AMG-GT3 crew fell just short of being able to get the better of the championship-winning Sainteloc Racing trio of Paul Evrard, Gilles Magnus and Jim Pla but the season was a considerable success nonetheless.

The high point was undoubtedly the sensational victory at the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa at the end of June to add to their second-place finishes at France’s Paul Ricard circuit, Germany’s Nurburgring and the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia.

Al Faisal said: “I feel very proud to have finished this season in second place in the GT World Challenge in the Gold category. For us to be able to do this in our first season in the category is something we must be very proud of. The Spa 24 result was definitely the cherry on top this season. It was especially pleasing to achieve this under the Omani flag with Al Manar Racing on the car.

“We are excited to get back to work and to racing and achieving even better results in this coming season. I am looking forward to announcing what we will be racing quite soon for 2025. Our goal is to always go better and better and we are focused on next year’s plans and over the moon to look back at such a positive season and winning at Spa in 2024.”
