In a move to accelerate development and enhance public services, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has signed agreements with various companies for the implementation of projects worth over RO 14.5 million.
The signing ceremony, held on Wednesday, was presided over by Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah. These agreements reflect the governorate's dedication to translating Oman Vision 2040 into actionable outcomes. Shaikh Al Hajri highlighted that the projects aim to boost local content, support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), generate employment, and enhance economic and tourism indicators in the region. Among the flagship projects is the establishment of Midan Al Dakhiliyah in the Wilayat of Nizwa. Spanning 145,000 square metres, this transformative development will integrate investment opportunities, tourism attractions, cultural elements, and environmental sustainability. The project will feature 4 kilometres of walking and cycling tracks surrounded by lush green spaces; a 2,000-square-metre children’s play area with modern and safe facilities; dedicated zones for food trucks and kiosks; and solar-powered seating areas and aesthetically designed fountains. It also includes comprehensive facilities such as prayer halls for men and women and public restrooms.
To ensure safety and longevity, the project will also include a concrete protective wall encircling the site. The agreements further encompass significant road infrastructure projects, with allocations of RO 4.25 million for constructing internal roads in Bidbid, Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, and Manah, as well as designing and implementing roads in Tuwa Al Nisf (the Wilayat of Samayil) and Al Saih Al Ahmar (the Wilayat of Bidbid). Additional roadworks include industrial zones in the wilayats of Bidbid, Izki and Adam, valued at RO 991,000.
Consultancy services for dualising the Wadi Ghul Road and developing a commercial zone in Al Hamra have also been finalised. In addition to infrastructure, the agreements prioritise enhancing municipal and digital services. Key initiatives include activating the Nizwa Gateway Project to boost connectivity, improving streetlight maintenance through the provision of spare parts and swift repair systems, and upgrading digital infrastructure for seamless operations and enhanced efficiency.
Shaikh al Hajri reaffirmed the governorate's commitment to sustainable development by emphasising the use of local products and the active involvement of SMEs. These projects are designed to drive economic progress, improve community well-being, and align with Oman Vision 2040's strategic goals. Through these initiatives, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is poised to deliver long-term benefits, solidifying its role as a key contributor to the nation's growth and prosperity.
