MUSCAT: Muscat club grabbed the title of the 2024/2025 Oman Handball League for juniors after defeating the rivals Seeb 28-17 in a tight encounter on Tuesday night at the indoor courts of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Nizwa club managed to earn the bronze medals as they beat Al Oruba by 33-26 in the third and fourth playoff at the same venue.
Coach Majid al Hasani’s boys delivered a top game to emerge champions of this season as they began the match strongly in the opening half. They dominated the game and managed to break the defending line of the opponent to end the first set by 15-9 In the second half, they capitalised on their momentum and exploited their opponents’ mistakes to extend their lead and seal a decisive 28-17 victory.
Speaking after the match, the head coach of Muscat club congratulated his players for the outstanding show. “I am proud of my players for their relentless effort and commitment. This achievement reflects the team’s dedication at the junior level. Our club is one of the key contributors to the national team, and we will continue striving to uphold this contribution,” he said.
"The team managed to begin the match strongly with a significant 11-point gap and that gave the team motivation to deliver much more in the rest of the match. I am very proud that we completed this season undefeated,” he concluded.
Dr Amer bin Humaid al Touqi, Director of Sports Associations at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, was the chief guest in presence of Moosa bin Khamis al Balushi, Chairman of Oman Handball Association (OHA), and dignitaries. After completion of the concluding match, the chief guest awarded the medals and trophies to the top placed teams.
On the other hand, the matches of the top tier handball league also began as Oman club played against Muscat while Seeb took on Al Shabab. Nizwa and Ahli Sidab met each other in another game.
