CAIRO: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, marked the World Arabic Language Day, which falls on December 18 every year with a celebration entitled Ahmed bin Majid Salon, on Tuesday.
Delivering a speech at the event, Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, the Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, said: “We meet today, in the salon of Ahmed bin Majid, the Arab navigator and scholar who said around the world on board a ship. Today, we sail through the Arabic language, the language that was described by the Egyptian writer Abbas Al Aqqad as a poetic language and we say that it is a living, creative, and renewed language. The Omanis carried the Arabic language on their ships spreading it throughout the world and building a bridge with Africa.” — ONA
