MUSCAT: A class 6 student from Sur has gained an entry into the Guinness World Records by a six-kilometre distance roller skating and spinning a hula-hoop around her hair tied on the top of her head for 28 minutes and 2 seconds.
Shivanya Prashant, a student of Sur Indian School, has been undergoing strenuous practice sessions by herself for several months before the Guinness World Records officials were invited to witness the performance, which was conducted in the presence of a large audience as spectators and with the support of the local authorities and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
Dr Srinivasan Bambamurthy, Principal of Indian School Sur, Satpal Bhagnandas Mamotra, Principal of the Indian School Ibra, acted as the witnesses while Aswathy Usha and Visakh Anil Sudha, Physical Education teachers, were the Timekeepers and Abhijith Mohan, a civil engineer, and A K Sunil, President of Indian Social Club Sur, were the surveyors of the event.
Shivanya has earlier won many accolades for her daredevil performances in and around the Sultanate of Oman as well as in academics and other arts and sports competitions.
The Guinness World Records has, in an e-mail, acknowledged to her mother Susmitha Prasanth that their application bearing reference number 240706165652ldrs for Shivanya has been accepted under the title ‘Longest duration roller skating while hula hooping around a hair bun’.
