Muscat: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Kuwait has issued general guidelines for Omani citizens and fans who will arrive in the country to support the national team during its participation in the 26th Gulf Cup.
The guidelines are that the concerned authorities require all arrivals to undergo biometric fingerprinting at all land ports and Kuwait International Airport.
Please contact the embassy if a citizen loses a travel document, and it is necessary to bring a lost report issued by the police station, a copy of the lost document, and two personal photos with a white background to issue a passport.
Oman head coach Rasheed Jaber said his team is looking for a winning start in the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup which will kick off in Kuwait City on Saturday.
“We aim to compete for the 26th Gulf Cup title, in addition to continuing preparations for the World Cup qualifiers,” Jaber said in a statement ahead of the opening match of the 26th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup 'Gulf Zain 2026' in Kuwait from December 21 to January 3.
The opening ceremony, organized by Zain, will continue with the Oman team's match with Kuwait at 9 pm (Oman time) at Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium, with a capacity of 60,000 spectators.
Oman and Kuwait are included in Group A along with Qatar and the UAE.
Hosts Kuwait have won 10 Gulf Cup titles in all. Iraq has lifted the trophy four times following their triumph two years ago, while Saudi Arabia and Qatar have each lifted the trophy three times.
The UAE (2007, 2013) and Oman have each won it twice. Iraq are the defending champions and will look to hang on to the trophy they won by defeating Oman 3-2 after extra time in Basra.
