MUSCAT: Saudi Arabia showcased composure and tactical precision to chase down a target of 166, securing victory with seven balls to spare. Faisal Khan was the standout performer, crafting a dazzling 70 off 40 balls, decorated with seven boundaries and four sixes. His innings laid the foundation for success, beginning with a vital 91-run opening partnership alongside Usman Khalid, who contributed a steady 38 off 34 balls.
The chase gained momentum until Khalid fell to Aamir Kaleem in the 10th over. Undeterred, Faisal continued his assault on Oman’s bowlers, ensuring Saudi Arabia remained on track. He departed in the 15th over, leaving 39 runs required from the final five overs. Abdul Waheed and Manan Ali then took charge, delivering an unbeaten 39-run stand. Waheed’s composed 19 not out and Ali’s quickfire 28 off 17 balls sealed the deal for Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Oman’s innings revolved around Mohammad Nadeem, who top-scored for the second day in a row with a resilient 60 off 49 balls. Nadeem’s partnerships with Ashish Odedara (41 runs) and Wasim Ali (62 runs) provided stability. Wasim contributed an aggressive 38 off 22 balls before falling in the 16th over.
However, Oman’s middle order faltered, with Vinayak Shukla dismissed for a duck and Mehran Khan managing just six runs. Nadeem’s dismissal in the 18th over left Oman at 138/5. A late cameo from Aamir Kaleem (17 of six balls) helped Oman post 165/6.
Saudi Arabia’s disciplined bowling, led by Usman Najeeb (2/33) and Ishtiaq Ahmad (2/32), kept Oman’s total within reach. The victory intensifies the tournament as four teams, including Oman, are tied on four points. Oman now faces a must-win clash against Kuwait, with net run rate likely to play a decisive role in their hopes of reaching the final.
