Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus signed today two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in industrial cooperation and in the fields of specifications, standards, conformity assessment and accreditation.
The memoranda of understanding were signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (on the one hand) and the Belarusian Ministry of Industry and the Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of Belarus (on the other hand).
The signing of the MoUs was aimed to exchange expertise and technology, develop knowledge-based industries, support joint investments in industrial projects and facilitate the movement of industrial goods between the two countries. It also aims to intensify joint exchange of information on national standards and technical regulations that may have a significant impact on trade between the two countries.
On behalf of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, the memoranda of understanding were signed by Qais Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. They were signed on the Belarusian side by Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and Alexander Efimov, Minister of Industry.
The ceremony was attended by Dr Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, Dr Abdullah Masoud al Harthy, Honorary Consul of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman, Hamoud Salim al Tuwaih, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Terentiev, Non-resident Ambassador of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman, and other officials from the two countries.
