Oman Club grouped with Kuwait SC, Dibba

Oman Club will play in group B with Kuwait SC (Kuwait), Dibba Al Huson (UAE) and Al Arabi (Qatar) in the 41st Gulf Club Handball Championship at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in February. Seeb will vie for the title against Al Rayyan (Qatar), Al Najma (Bahrain) and Al Noor (Saudi Arabia) in group A.


The event will kick off on February 15 and will run until 24 February, 2025. The opener will be between Kuwait SC and Qatar’s Al Arabi, which will kick off at 4:00 pm followed by Oman Club and Dibba Al Hosn at 6:30 PM.


The draw for the 41st Gulf Club Handball Championship took place on Wednesday under the auspices of Shaikh Sultan bin Hamid al Hosni, Member of the Majlis Ash’shura representing the Wilayat of Al Khabourah and former Chairman of Gulf Handball Organising Committee. Moosa bin Khamis al Balushi, Chairman of Oman Handball Association (OHA); Jihad bin Abdullah al Shaikh, Vice-Chairman of Oman Club and Head of the Organising Committee; Oman Club’s Board members; and representatives of the participating Gulf clubs were also present.


The hosts Oman Club are gearing up to ensure a successful hosting of the championship. The organising committee is finalising the key arrangements including accommodations for participating delegations, selecting the referees and technical team of the event, and organising sub committees for logistics, media and other fields. The training sessions will take place at Oman Club’s indoor facilities and the complex’s auxiliary halls.

Shaikh Sultan al Hosni appreciated the efforts taken by Oman Club and the Oman Handball Association for organising the gulf event. “ The Gulf championship’s acts as an essential event in reviving the prominence of Omani handball and its impact on local clubs and the Association. Hosting this Gulf gathering reflects Oman’s effective role in staging competitive and fraternal sporting events. I am wishing all the best for the local team’s representatives in this event towards registering positive results,” he ended


Moosa bin Khamis al Balushi, OHA Chairman, also praised Oman Club’s efforts. " It is a great event to welcome all the gulf clubs to Muscat. The Gulf championships have always carried a unique ambiance both on and off the court offering a platform for fierce competition and camaraderie. The association will provide full support to Oman Club to ensure the event’s success,” he said.
