Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus have affirmed their determination to boost bilateral relations, develop partnership in the economic, political and cultural fields.
This was stated in the joint communique between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus, which was issued on the occasion of the official visit made by President Aleksandr Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman. The communique reads as follows:
“As per an invitation from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, President Aleksandr Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus made an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman during December 14-18, 2024.
His Majesty the Sultan and the Belarusian President held talks, during which they reviewed bilateral relations and means of fostering joint cooperation.
The two leaders stressed their determination to work together to achieve common goals and establishing relations based on mutual respect and understanding, underscoring the importance of promoting partnership in the economic, political and cultural fields. A number of sectors were also identified to deepen the partnership, including: clean energy, tourism, education, healthcare, technology, transportation and logistics services.
The two sides welcomed bilateral efforts to enhance cooperation in the field of industries, including joint projects to assemble equipment in the Sultanate of Oman.
The two leaders urged boosting cooperation in the fields of agriculture and food security, welcoming the success of the negotiations held during the Oman Agrofood 2024 exhibition. They affirmed their support for joint projects in the production of infant milk and dairy products.
The two sides agreed that the authorities concerned in both countries would study the feasibility of establishing a joint committee to support joint initiatives.
The Republic of Belarus welcomed the decision to exempt its citizens from entry visas to visit the Sultanate of Oman for a period of up to 14 days. The two sides also discussed the possibility of operating direct flights between the two countries, in addition to a mutual visa exemption agreement.
His Majesty the Sultan and the Belarusian President exchanged views on a set of regional and international issues. In this context, they stressed their respect for the international law and the United Nations Charter, and underscored the importance of cooperation within the framework of international organizations to achieve security and peace.
Meanwhile, the official delegations from the two countries held meetings, during which they discussed national development strategies, ways to boost trade and investment between them, and cooperation in facing global challenges such as food security.
The Belarusian President expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality. He extended an invitation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to visit the Republic of Belarus.”
