Seeb, Sohar, Salam and Al Bashayer shine in OVL

Muscat: Seeb Club began their journey in the new Oman Volleyball League (OVL) season with a deserved 3-0 victory over Al Shabab Club in a match held at Al Amal Club’s court.


The first set saw complete control from Seeb, as their players imposed their rhythm early on with strong performances, ending the set 25-14. In the second set, Seeb continued their dominance, capitalising on Al Shabab’s defensive errors to secure an identical 25-14 result. The third set was more competitive, with Al Shabab attempting to rally back into the match. However, Seeb's experience proved decisive, concluding the set 25-23 and earning Seeb their first three points in the league.

SOHAR BLANK SAHAM


In another match held at Sohar Club’s court, Sohar Club claimed a 3-0 win over Saham Club, showcasing strong teamwork and high levels of coordination.


Sohar dominated the first set, leveraging excellent serving and attacking performances to win 25-18. They maintained their superiority in the second set with organised defence and quick ball delivery, ending the set 25-16. The third set was more competitive as Saham fought to close the gap, displaying a high fighting spirit. However, it wasn’t enough to prevent Sohar from sealing the set 25-22 and securing the three points.

AL SALAM EDGE MAJEES


Meanwhile, Al Salam Club achieved a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Majees Club in a thrilling match held on Monday at Sohar Sports Complex.


Majees started strong in the first set, excelling in both defence and attack to win 25-20. Al Salam bounced back in the second set, relying on powerful serves and quick attacks to win 25-19. In the third set, Majees regained momentum, taking advantage of Al Salam’s defensive positioning errors to clinch the set 25-23. Al Salam responded strongly in the fourth set, imposing complete control and winning 25-18 to force a decisive fifth set.


The final set was filled with excitement until the last moments, with both teams exchanging points evenly. However, Al Salam managed to edge out Majees with a narrow 17-15 victory, securing a well-deserved win in one of the most intense matches of the preliminary round.


AL BASHAYER FIGHT BACK


In the same round, Al Bashayer Club defeated Masirah Club 3-1 at Al Amal Club’s court.


Masirah started the match strongly, winning the first set 25-22 with a balanced performance. However, Al Bashayer regained control in the subsequent sets, implementing a fast and organised style of play to win three consecutive sets 25-19, 25-17, and 25-17.


The Oman Volleyball League this season includes a total of 56 matches. The participating clubs will compete in 28 first-round matches, after which the top five teams will advance to a two-phase league comprising 20 additional matches.
