MUSCAT: The Follow-up Committee entrusted with the Implementation of the 'Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)' on Sunday held its second meeting in 2024. The meeting, which took place at the National Centre for Autism, was chaired by Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, Chairperson of the Committee.

In her speech, Dr Laila said that the Sultanate of Oman accords great attention towards empowering women in various fields, noting that women in Oman attained advanced levels of performance. She valued the efforts made by the committee's members and their contribution to the panel's initiatives.

In its meeting, the Committee reviewed Muscat Declaration on the progress made to implement 'Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action', after 30 years since the convention was endorsed in 1995.
