The Seeb team managed to secure an exciting victory over Al Amerat with a score of 51-46 in the Youth Basketball League at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Wednesday.
The game was fiercely contested, with both teams exchanging control of the match at different intervals. However, Seeb's experience and effective utilisation of opportunities allowed them to clinch the win with a five-point margin. Seeb’s players Azad al Bahlani and Omar al Khuwas stood out with their impactful scoring, while Mazen al Awaisi and Al Huwari al Hashli shone for Amerat.
Amerat started strongly with Al Huwari al Hashli scoring the opening points, but Seeb quickly responded through Moaid al Balushi to tie the score at 2-2. Both teams exchanged points, with Mazen al Awaisi sinking two three-pointers for Amerat, ending the quarter with a 10-6 lead for Amerat.
Mazen al Awaisi opened the second quarter with a three-pointer, followed by two points from Saud al Badi, extending Al Amerat’s lead to 15-6. However, Seeb bounced back with impressive shots by Azad al Bahlani and Al Qasim Al Zuheibi, equalising the score at 15-15. The back-and-forth continued, and Seeb concluded the first half leading 25-23.
Al Amerat maintained the pressure as Ibrahim al Balushi scored two points. Seeb regained momentum with Omar Al Khuwas adding two points and Walid al Mamari contributing a three-pointer. Despite Al Amerat's efforts, Seeb finished the quarter ahead at 39-34.
The fourth quarter was filled with intense action as both teams fiercely contested the outcome. Each team scored 12 points, but Seeb managed to maintain their lead, ultimately winning the game 51-46.
The game was officiated by an experienced team, with international referee Rashid al Mushayfari as the first referee, Ali al Salmani as the second referee and Taha al Amri as the third referee. The table officials included Maryam al Zadjali, Yaqoub al Nadabi, and Fatima al Harthy.
