MUSCAT, DEC 11

Seeb secured a resounding 3-0 win over Al Rustaq in the rescheduled match from the 10th round of the Omantel League, held on Tuesday at the Seeb Sports Stadium.

The match began with Al Rustaq launching an aggressive attack, aiming to capitalise on the early minutes to surprise Seeb’s defence. However, the resilience of Seeb’s backline and the brilliance of goalkeeper Bilal al Balushi thwarted Al Rustaq's attempts to find the net.

After the first five minutes, Seeb took control of the game and imposed their playing style. In the 11th minute, Jameel al Yahmadi opened the scoring with a powerful shot that deflected off Al Rustaq defenders and found its way into the net, boosting his team's confidence.

Seeb didn’t stop there, as Abdulaziz al Muqbali added a second goal in the 16th minute with a surprising strike from outside the penalty area that nestled into the far corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless. Despite Al Rustaq's efforts to reduce the deficit with swift moves on the flanks, Seeb’s defence remained solid.

In the 39th minute, Zaher al Aghbari missed a golden opportunity after a precise pass from Al Muqbali inside the box. However, he quickly redeemed himself in the 42nd minute with a brilliant assist to Omar al Salti, who scored the third goal in style after an impressive dribble. The first half ended with Seeb leading 3-0.

At the start of the second half, Al Rustaq’s Romanian coach, Catalin Mihai, made several changes. The team showed more determination to get back into the game, creating two clear chances for their professional player, Viston Abdul, but his shots lacked accuracy. Another opportunity was squandered by Hudhaifa al Mamari, as Bilal al Balushi continued his stellar performance in goal.

IN CONTROL

Seeb managed the second half calmly, slowing the tempo and exploiting the spaces left by Al Rustaq’s advanced defence. In the 70th minute, Jameel al Yahmadi missed a chance to extend the lead with a shot that went wide of the post. This was followed by a dangerous attempt from Abdulrahman al Mashfari, but Al Rustaq’s goalkeeper made an excellent save.

In the final minutes, Al Rustaq intensified their efforts to close the gap, but Seeb’s defence and goalkeeper Bilal al Balushi remained steadfast, maintaining a clean sheet. The match ended with a 3-0 victory for Seeb.

With this win, Seeb increased their tally to 30 points, solidifying their position at the top of the league table, four points ahead of second placed Al Nahda. They remain the only team unbeaten and undrawn this season.

On the other hand, Al Rustaq's tally remains at five points, keeping them at the bottom of the standings. Their position has become increasingly precarious as the first round nears its end, heightening the risk of relegation to the First Division.
