Trainees participating in the school basketball workshop, organised by the Oman Basketball Association in collaboration with the International Basketball Federation, conducted interactive practical sessions earlier this week. These sessions took place in the sports hall of Ellesmere Muscat International School, where trainees demonstrated the skills and techniques they had learned during the workshop to the school’s students. This activity was part of the practical sessions, complementing the theoretical sessions held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex's in Bausher, under the supervision of international instructor Nemanja Bejdov.

The practical programme at Ellesmere International School focused on teaching students the fundamentals of basketball through interactive and hands-on training. The sessions included skills such as passing, shooting and team movements, along with practical games to enhance students' understanding of the sport. The sessions were organised and overseen by the school’s physical education teachers, led by the head of the department, Samar Eid Adeeb, ensuring that the lessons adhered to the planned schedule.

International instructor Nemanja Bejdov, along with Abu Bakr al Jahwari, OBA Vice-President and Head of the Technical Development Committee, evaluated the trainees’ performance. The event was also attended by OBA Chairman Engineer Khalfan al Naabi.

At the conclusion of the event, commemorative shields were exchanged between the school administration, the association president, and the secretary-general, symbolising the fruitful partnership and mutual cooperation. The programme primarily aimed to promote basketball among students while fostering teamwork and camaraderie.

On the other hand, the theoretical sessions of the workshop continued, addressing key topics in training and skill-building for different age groups. These topics included establishing and developing basic basketball skills such as passing, shooting and dribbling, training younger age groups, organising small games, managing school tournaments, as well as refereeing and match management.

This workshop represents a significant step in developing school basketball in the Sultanate of Oman by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, thereby enhancing the skills of trainees and passing them on to the younger generations.
