DHANK: The Children First Association, in collaboration with the Omani Women's Association in the Wilayat of Dhank, Al Dhahirah Governorate, organised the second edition of the Child Safety from Accidents Symposium at the Sports Club Hall in the wilayat.


The event was inaugurated under the auspices of Her Highness Sayyidah Dr Mona bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation at SQU and Chairperson of the Children First Association.


The symposium focused on protecting children from traffic and school transportation accidents, as well as environmental and domestic hazards. In her speech, Her Highness emphasised the association's commitment to fostering a safe environment for children through awareness programmes, workshops and collaborations with various entities, including the Oman Human Rights Commission and the Muscat International Book Fair.

The key presentations included, protecting Children from Traffic Accidents by Lt Col Abdullah bin Yahya al Sarmi from the General Traffic Department.


Safety in School Transportation by Said bin Sultan al Bahri from the Ministry of Education. Environmental and Domestic Accident Prevention by Asaad bin Talib al Adawi from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority.


Additionally, Dr Amira bint Saeed al Sawafiyah from the Ministry of Health delivered a presentation on the health impacts of child accidents, supported by relevant statistics and case studies.


The symposium concluded with a discussion on enhancing inter-agency coordination to address child safety challenges, alongside a children’s workshop titled "I Am Attentive" on first aid and child protection, presented by Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority members.


The event also featured an exhibition showcasing initiatives by the Omani Women’s Association in Dhank. Prominent attendees included Najeeb bin Ali al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, Musallam bin Ahmed al Maashani, Wali of Dhank, and other distinguished officials. — ONA
