Oman's experimental rocket launch from Duqm this week

Muscat: As the National Space Services Company (NASCOM) will conduct an experimental space rocket launch in the Duqm marine area on December 4, all fishermen and sea-goers have been advised to avoid sailing or being in the area specified in the coordinates below during the period from 5 am to 2 pm on the day of the launch.


This experimental launch comes as part of the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to enhance its capabilities in the field of space, under local laws and regulations and international safety standards.


The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has urged everyone to adhere to the instructions issued to ensure everyone's safety and avoid any potential risks.

Etlaq Spaceport, a project by the National Aerospace Services Company (NASCOM), earlier said the launch of the Sultanate of Oman's first space rocket in December.


The launch is being organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT, the National Space Program, the Civil Aviation Authority, NASCOM, and institutional stakeholders.


The company added that the launch will not be a publicly accessible event.
